“I would suggest that if you were to put the TV in the classroom, it would blow the classroom to bits. The teaching processes would be completely transformed: it would be exactly like bringing the Trojan horse inside the walls of Troy.” This quote by Marshall McLuhan a credited Canadian author is the quote I picked to write about.

tv in classI think this quote means that televisions would take the classroom very much by surprise which is why it was compare to the Trojan Horse and the City of Troy. I feel that this is true because television changes how students were taught for example teachers could then show videos to reinforce what they were teaching in class. Now, we are learning not with televisions but with Smart Boards this change was probably a little like when they brought televisions into classrooms because it changed how teachers taught considering it took the place of a chalkboard. So, most teachers had to start writing notes on their new smart boards which disturbs class when they have to figure it out.

These products like the television and Smart Boards make it easier for classes to find and show media. I feel that as good as these steps are forward we are almost taking steps back because we are missing out on the good old fashion learning and where teachers and students really connected.
